Realization

On an area of 30-50 hectares the ecovillage will provide living space for about 150 residents. This large size requires long-term planning. The timescale (see drawing) is based on the experience gained in other ecovillages. The objective of our project is to achieve maximum transparency and acceptance. This is why it is so important to point out the benefits our ecovillage will bring to the region and the people living there.

The center allows for the setup of an economic basis as well as networking and public relations in the region and serves as a center for communication, coordination and as a venue for different events.

KEIMBLATT ÖKODORF is presenting itself to the general public and is intensifying contact with the local authorities. Furthermore the project is supported by cooperation partners such as commercial enterprises, non-profit associations and a scientific advisory council as well as one patron. The team starts to search for the definite real property for the ecovillage.

3. First young shoots (summer of 2009)

This phase begins with the purchase of the ecovillage real estate where the ecovillage will be established. At the same time the permaculture planning for the grounds will be started.

4. Leaf stage (summer of 2010)

After about one year the permaculture planning will be completed for the time being and the construction of the community facilities will begin.

5. to 7. Blossom to sowing (spring of 2014)

The arrival and integration center and the first living areas in the form of neighborhoods will be set up. As soon as the new villagers are integrated into the community the team will be disbanded and integrated into the new structures. Subsequently the ecovillage will be established fully and the economic part will be completed to serve as a social and economic interface with the surrounding region. At this point the founding of a practice campus for a cooperating university will also be taken into consideration. The ecovillagers will be able to support other ecovillage projects with the knowledge and experience they have gained.
